King Mohammed VI Grants Moroccan Citizenship to Cheb Khaled but the Algerian are not happy
King of Algerian Rai music, “Cheb Khaled” has been awarded Moroccan citizenship. The singer, who has been a longtime resident of Morocco and a close friend with King Mohammed VI, was officially offered Moroccan citizenship by a royal decree issued on Aug. 20.
But the Algerians are not too happy about it. The worldwide star has been getting a lot of grief from certain newspapers in his native Algeria. Khaled the “Moroccan” screamed the headline.
Khaled Hadj Ibrahim, known internationally by his nickname “Cheb Khaled” decided to move from France to live in Morocco to bring up his children because he did not entirely agree with French values. He lives with his family in a villa offered by King Mohammed VI.
